Question: Currently I have a client asking about the usage of a standard for a Double Drilled Flange. The manufacturer wants to use API 6A. The size of the flange is as follows: 7-1/16" 3000lb / 5000lb 6B Flange with R46 Ring Groove. If you could help me at all, I would be most grateful. Answer: No need exists to double drill 7-1/16" 3M/5M flanges, these flanges join directly using combination bolts and a combination ring gasket. See Crossover Connections for a full explanation.
