API Spec 6A requires low alloy 60K yield strength material for 10,000 psi maximum service pressure and 75K yield strength material for 15,000 psi and 20,000 psi maximum service pressure 6BX weld neck flanges. All API Spec 6A, 6BX weld neck flanges meet the specification for integral flanges, and the weld neck dimensions specified satisfy the minimum stress allowables at the point of weld attachment. Operators must choose tubulars with minimum properties equal to or exceeding that of the connecting 6BX weld neck flange. API Spec 17D requires low alloy 60K yield strength material for 5,000 psi maximum service pressure and 75K yield strength material for 10,000 psi maximum service pressure SV flanges. API Spec 17D, SS weld neck flanges, may also utilize 60K and/or 75K low alloy material. Reliable welding of all API Spec 6A material requires Qualified Welding Procedures and Qualified Welders.
