API Spec 17D
SV 10M working pressure flanges directly connect to API 6A 6BX 10M working
pressure flanges.
API
Spec 17D requires that manufacturers make 10M working pressure SV
(Swivel) flanges from 75K
material specified in API Spec 6A.
API Spec 17D
requires all pressure containing end and outlet connections that utilize metal
to metal sealing surfaces have their ring grooves or other sealing surfaces made
from or inlaid with
Corrosion Resistant Material.
API Spec 17D
accepts all API Spec 6A 6BX flanges (20M working pressure flange connections
excepted as of 2005) and all API Spec 16A hub connections provided these connections have
ring grooves made of or inlaid with corrosion resistant material.
Use ring gaskets
or other metallic seals made of corrosion resistant material with API Spec 17D
specified connections. Use an SBX
or
SRX ring gasket as
appropriate for underwater (subsea)
Make-up of any API end or outlet
connection utilizing an API ring gasket.
Combinations of
standard (fixed) flanges with swivel flanges (SS to SV or BX
to SV) require special length bolts and
tap end studs.
All API Spec 17D
equipment quality control and testing shall comply with requirements for PSL 2, 3,
or 3G described in API Spec 6A and as specified
by the buyer of the equipment.
