FOREWORD

WOODCO USA has manufactured a hinged spider to accommodate holding tubing, casing and drill pipe, since 1976. Originally these spiders had a rated capacity of 100 Tons.

Current WOODCO USA 150 Ton Spiders have the same overall dimensions as the older 100 Ton Spiders. The 150 Ton Spiders came about as an upgrade of the 100 Ton unit. We increased the strength of the body material and the pin material, and made the pins slightly larger in diameter. We also changed the removable pin attachment to a bolted design; now we use no assembly welding on load bearing parts, and we now secure the fixed pin with a snap ring rather than brad it. To provide you with greater quality assurance, all new spiders have 100% Magnetic Particle Inspection performed 24 hours (minimum) after a load test to 225 Tons. WOODCO USA 150 Ton Spiders made since 2006 bear the API 7K Monogram.

In all other ways you will find that the 150 Ton and the 100 Ton WOODCO USA Spiders appear and function identically. These Spiders use the same commonly available API Rotary Slips to grip and support pipe.
