COMPANY HISTORY

Wood George established WOOD GEORGE & CO. as a private business in 1958. The subsequent and present owner, Ashley George, purchased and incorporated the business in the State of Texas in 1973.  The corporation began doing business under the name WOODCO USA in 1984.

Originally, WOOD GEORGE & CO. engaged in buying, repairing and selling  used oilfield drilling equipment. By 1975, the company evolved into a manufacturer of specialty oilfield products.

WOOD GEORGE & CO. acquired its first American Petroleum Institute (API)Monogram license in 1978. Today WOODCO USA currently has API licenses to manufacture and Monogram (mark with API Logo) equipment as specified in API Specifications:

6A  -  Specification for Wellhead and Christmas Tree Equipment.

16A - Specification for Drill Through Equipment.

17D - Specification for Subsea Wellhead and Christmas Tree Equipment.

PRESSURE CONTROL EQUIPMENT

WOODCO USA manufactures all types of connecting equipment used to adapt, space apart, and join Wellhead components, Blowout Preventors, Choke and Kill Manifolds, etc. This equipment includes:

CLAMPS

WOODCO USA manufactures forged, through bolt, Clamps to join equipment utilizing hub type connectors as described in API Specification 16A.

WOODCO USA Clamps meet applicable industry, national, and international standards plus regulatory agencies’ requirements, and have Det Norske Veritas (DNV) Type Approval for use in North Sea waters.

INSIDE BLOWOUT PREVENTERS

WOODCO USA Inside Blowout Preventers (Back Pressure Type) provide a positive way to stop back flow through drill pipe and/or drill collars should it occur during drilling rig tripping operations. 

Careful design assures trouble-free, no-leak performance.  WOODCO USA holds a Patent on this product, U.S. Patent No. 4403628.

CASING AND TUBING SPIDERS

WOODCO USA manufactures 150 ton capacity manual casing and tubing Spiders, which accept standard "Rotary Slips" to catch and hold 8-5/8" and smaller pipe.
